Full Thrust US Fleet - Part 2

Tonight I finished up the second batch of my US fleet. As before, these ships are from Ground Zero Games Federal Stats Europa range. Ned has been added for size comparison. First pic shows a pair of escort cruisers on the left and a pair of heavy cruisers on the right.

This pic shows a pair of battlecruisers on the left and a pair of battleships on the right.

There's two ships left to be painted in this fleet, the dreadnought and superdreadnought. I should get them done in the next day or two. After that is the Chinese Union Starfleet.

  1. Nice. Are you going to ink them at all to get the detail to pop a bit. I think these looks just fine as they are. But I'm not a man to ever pass sup a chance to put a wash on something. Now where is that damned cat? A shot of future with some black paint will really bring up the detail and shop the shedding... .

  2. I initially was not planning on inking them as I'm not sure how it would turn out over such a light coloured figure. I'm painting up the dreadnought now and it could probably use a wash, I'm just not sure how it would turn out. The last thing I want is the whole ship to be black. I might experiment with one of the small corvettes maybe.

  3. I tried the dip on one of the destroyers. It's definitely glossier. That being said I kinda like it.

  4. You can dull the gloss with dullcoat or any other spray on matt finish. Did the ink or paint in the dip settle in the cracks and pop the details?

  5. It did make some detail pop but it also dulled them down and darkened them a bit. It works though, they look pretty good although I think I got the superdreadnought a littel too dark. I'll post pics in a little while.
