GW Hydra

No, not that anti-aircraft thing but the old Dark Elf War Hydra. Finished it up the other day.

I originally was trying to go for a much darker paint scheme, but that uh, apparently didn't happen. Oh well, it turned out decently.

Two weeks left in the paint challenge, so I've got a mad scramble to get stuff done.

Chaos Knights

Quick update of some figs I've recently done. These 5 figs are Chaos Knights from Games Workshop. The riders are metal and the horses plastic. Decent figs with lots of armour.

And I also finished this figure. This 28mm fig is Tammy the Tank Girl from Bombshell Miniatures' Babes line. Really simple and pretty quick to paint.

'Til next time!

Ghouls and a Dynamic Duo

Finished some more figs recently. First up is this group of 8 ghouls. These are plastic 28mm figs from Mantic Games.

Flesh didn't quite turn out like I wanted it to, but oh well, they're ghouls.

Next up is this dynamic duo. One is a whirling dervish of death and the other is . . . his biographer? These are metal 28mm figs from Games Workshop.

Something I picked up on after I watched this video from Duncan Rhodes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufP8ka3KGno , was the palette I should use. I've been using old blister packs for pretty much ever. Instead I picked up a couple white tiles.
What a difference, less paint wastage and it's much easier to thin the paint down. Also clean up. Once I've pretty much covered the tile I just wash it off and it's good to go.

I also picked up some of this Winsor & Newton brush cleaner and restorer on Amazon.
Tossed in all my brushes and let them sit for a few hours and then rinsed them. Really cleaned up my brushes. It's not cheap and I definitely should have got the bigger bottle. But it's most certainly extended the life of my brushes.

Also picked up some brush cleaner and preserver (again on Amazon). I haven't used it yet but it's another thing to help clean and preserve my brushes.

F&IW Rangers and a Warrior Priest

Recently finished up another batch of figs. First is this group of French & Indian War British Rangers. These 28mm metal figs are from North Star Military Figures' Muskets & Tomahawks range. These are three separate packs with an officer in the first batch.

What I like about these figs is that there aren't any duplicate figures in the packs. There's some similarity but overall these are 18 different poses.

And finally there is this 28mm metal Mordheim Warrior Priest from GW.

Once I started painting I noticed that there was supposed to be a cross piece on the fire staff. No idea where it got to. Knowing what it looks like, I think it actually looks better without it.

And next is a pair of Panzer IVs. These resin figs are from Warlord Games.

Leftovers from 2020

These 3 figs are from late last year (I'll add them to 2020s tally). First is a Manticore. This plastic 28mm fig is from Wizkids and their Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures line.

Next is the Angel of Death. This 28mm metal fig is from Reaper Miniatures.

And finally is this 28mm plastic fig from Mantic Games. This piece is from their Terrain Crate Market Set.

Nightstalkers

Finished this set of three figs. These plastic 28mm figs are from Mantic Games and their Nightstalkers army. From left to right they're a Banshee, a Screech and a Shade.

I don't know if the figs are any good game wise, but they are neat figures. The Screech was definitely my favourite of the trio.
