SW Legion Rebel Troopers Upgrade Exp.

Finished this pack of plastic Rebel Troopers Upgrade Expansion. Quick and easy to paint up. These are figs from Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Legion range.

That should knock off that 2021 New Years resolution. Right now I'm assembling some Ashigaru figs and with a little luck I might get a base of Teppo done before the end of the year. And I've got the Analogue Hobbies Paint Challenge starting on the 20th.

Star Wars Legion Vehicles

Finished a pair of Star Wars Legion vehicles on Saturday. Both of these vehicles are from Fantasy Flight Games. First up is the AT-RT.

You may notice the right handlebar is missing. My set was missing that piece for some reason. Oh well. The rider is carrying his blaster rifle in his right hand so it's not like he was using the handlebar anyway.

And finally is the T-47 Airspeeder.

Nice and quite easy to paint up. I haven't mastered the ability to paint decent windows yet so I'm not particularly thrilled with how they turned out. I'll have to find a decent tutorial that doesn't require 30 steps.

This actually was the last of the Star Wars Legion pieces I had. My SW:L paint pile has been completely eliminated. There's still a few things I'd like to get and it would be nice if FFG built their line intelligently. I'd like to see some Imperial army troopers and maybe some other vehicles without having to pay an arm, leg, lung and kidney for some 3D prints. Evidently the actual development of all the Star Wars miniature lines was handed off to another company as Asmodee is in the process of destroying FFG. Yeah, I have an opinion on that.

Speeder Bikes and a Gun

Just finished up a trio more figs. First up is a pair of Imperial Speeder Bikes from Fantasy Flight's Star Wars Legion game.

Nice and simple figs with a fair bit of character.

Next up is a World War 2 French 25mm anti-tank gun. This metal fig is from Army Group North Miniatures.

On my paint table right now is a pair of French tanks and a bunch of Counterblast figs.

Star Wars Legion Stormtroopers

Finished a batch of Star Wars Legion Stormtroopers recently. These nice figs are from Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Legion line.

This large batch of troopers is comprised of 3 commanders, 3 rocket launchers equipped figs, 3 figs with repeating blaster rifle and 12 guys with blasters. I could probably use a few more basic troopers with blasters and maybe a heavy repeating blaster (which unfortunately only comes with Snow Troopers. Argh FFG, why??)

With the completion of the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge, my posts will probably slow down, although there is talk of an Analogue Hobbies Quarantine Challenge maybe taking place. So we shall see.

Regardless, I need to clean off the figs that are on my table that are in various stages of painting.

Ants and Death Troopers

For my final post of the year I've got a small assortment of figs completed. First up is a group of giant ants. These figs, with the exception of the two large ones, are all metal. Those two are resin. These figs were from the Crooked Dice Games 7TV Apocalypse Kickstarter that got sent out earlier this year.

Also completed is a squad of Imperial Death Troopers from Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Legion line.

These figs were relatively quick and easy to paint up. The trick was not to actually paint them complete black as the details would be harder to see. They turned out alright I guess.

And finally I have this lone female civilian from Sash and Saber's French and Indian War line.

Due to some of the bonus challenges in the Paint Challenge, I will probably be posting up a lone figure a couple times before the end of the challenge.

French Goumier, Counterblast & Star Wars figs

Just finished a group of World War II 28mm French Goumier. These metal figs are from Artizan Designs. The figs have some mid-late war kit but I don't see why they can't be used for early-war.

Painting the stripes was not fun. I can't see myself painting any more Goumier. I'll stick to basic French infantry.

And now for the second half of my post. These 28mm figs are from Bombshell Miniatures Counterblast pulp sci-fi line. First up is a trio of Bde Bots and a Bz-R Robot.

The next two groups of figs are from the Mekkus faction. The first pic is of a group of Aggressors. The second pic is of a trio of Braindrones.

The next pic is a group of figs from the Edofleini faction. These are Edo Trappers. The pic doesn't really show the colouring of the figs unfortunately. Couldn't have a post without crappy pics!

Star Wars, French and Gnolls

As the Analogue Hobbies Paint Challenge is in full swing, I've completed a few sets of figures. First up is a set of Imperial Scout Troopers for Fantasy Flight's Star Wars Legion. 

I was looking forward to having these figs painted but I was kind of leery about actually painting up the white and black. I found a few videos on Youtube that gave good tutorials on how to paint them quickly and easily. I think they turned out pretty good.

Next up is a group of early World War 2 French infantry. These metal figures are from Black Tree Design. Just when I think I'm done with the French, I end up picking up more. I don't know what it is, but I really like painting French infantry.

On a related note, I recently finished listening to the audiobook of Robert Forczyk's Case Red: The Collapse of France. It covers the period from the late 1920's up to the collapse and surrender of France. I recommend it if this period is of interest to you.

And lastly, I finished a group of Frostgrave Gnolls. These figures are all metal except for the two in the back row with shields and these are from the plastic Gnolls set. All figures are from North Star figures.

Honestly, I really don't like these figures and I think it's because I couldn't come up with a good paint scheme for the Gnoll skin and fur. I've got another 18 plastic ones on my paint table that I'm really not looking forward to doing.
